boucheron: serpent boheme

April 2, 2019

A Resolutely Precious Necklace

The Serpent Bohème collection, dedicated to the iconic Boucheron serpent, has revealed a new design, as delicate as it is sensual. One with 16 motifs, the other with six, this long necklace in yellow gold was redesigned with turquoise stones, a color full of vitality. The protective spirit of the serpent and a symbol of eternity are subtlety found as visual reference.

The delicately twisted chain evokes the scales on a serpent. The effect of this serpent in gold, in which sensual undulations were chiseled, is more elegant than ever.

In addition, the pendant, set with diamonds and turquoise stones, symbolizes the head of the serpent. The new design, like a honeycomb, allows light to bathe the stones and make them even brighter.

Key points: A new piece from the emblematic Serpent Bohème collection is at once contemporary and timeless, highlighting the turquoise.

Plus: Be bold and creative as you combine two or three pieces from the Serpent Bohème collection to create your personal style.

hublot: big bang unico red magic

March 13, 2019

The Power Of Red

Hublot has once again called on its limitless imagination to create a world-premiere watch design. This time, Hublot has dedicated its innovative approach to ceramic, adding vivid color. A triple tour de force, the colored ceramic invented by Hublot is groundbreaking both in terms of the material itself and the manufacturing process.

The color is obtained through an innovative technique in which a fusion of pressure and heat sinters the ceramic without burning the pigments. Having mastered the basic hues with this method, Hublot is now ready to introduce a whole new world of colored ceramics to its watch collections.

For this first, ceramic model with color, Hublot has chosen a bold red, which symbolizes power, passion, and glory. The Big Bang Unico Red Magic is undoubtedly an ultra-resilient ceramic watch full of fire.

mb&f & l’epee 1839: medusa

February 4, 2019

A Captivating Expression Of Time

One thing is for certain: once you have plunged into the depths of Medusa, it’s hard to look away. For its tenth collaboration with L’Epée 1839, Switzerland’s leading clockmaker, MB&F, the top designer of timepieces in the world, takes a dive into the warm ocean waters where intriguing and ancient jellyfish abound.

Medusa is double configuration clock, housed in a hand-blown dome of Murano glass. It can be ceiling mounted or placed on a desk. Medusa’s central section of hand-blown Murano glass calls to mind the bell-shaped body of a jellyfish. Two rotating rings—one for the hours and the other for minutes—are visible through the glass dome, and the time can be read from a single indicator that extends over the rings. A movement beating at 2.5 Hz (18’000 A/h) located below the time indicator, is like the pulsating heart of this mechanical creature.

Double configuration

Medusa can sit on a desk, or another other flat surface, thanks to a specific support with curved legs. This is designed to hold the base of the movement and allow easy access to the mechanism for winding and setting the time.

When the clock is suspended from the ceiling, Medusa changes its supporting legs for hand-blown Murano glass tentacles. Attached to the mechanism, the tentacles move softly with the slightest motion of the clock—recalling the movement of a jellyfish in the ocean currents.

Key points: Designed to evoke one of the most eloquent, yet mysterious creatures of the sea, Medusa blends exceptional artistic technique with Swiss clock-making precision, once again pushing the envelope of possibility.

Plus: Like a luminescent jellyfish in the depths of the sea, Medusa glows in the dark thanks to Super-LumiNova.

Characteristics: Total components: 231; Approximately 6kg; Dome and tentacles in hand-blown Murano glass; Movement and standing base in stainless steel and brass; Indexes with Super-LumiNova; L’Epée 1839 suspended movement, designed and manufactured in-house: Dimensions for the hanging version: 286 mm tall x 250 mm diameter, and for the standing version: 323 mm x 250 mm

jaeger-lecoultre: master ultra thin tourbillon enamel

January 28, 2019

It’s All In The Details

Since the brand’s debut, Jaeger-LeCoultre has made precision an art of its own, by finding the perfect balance between incredible savoir-faire and an artistic sense, sophistication, and aesthetic finesse.

The Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel presents an original design with subtle innovations that already make it a classic in its class. This new model will attract men who are fascinated by its precision, and all of the details are magnified in a pure expression of sophistication.

The exposed tourbillon at 6 o’clock and the engraved date display at 12 o’clock create a very balanced duo on the new Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel. With a 40-millimeter diameter white-gold case, the acclaimed Jaeger-LeCoultre 978 caliber movement was redesigned both technically and aesthetically. To pay tribute to this masterpiece of ingenuity, the watch features a hand-engraved blue guilloché enamel dial that shows off an unparalleled level of finish. In terms of details, there is a sunray finishing effect on the back of the movement, as well a graceful gold oscillating weight.

Jaquet Droz: Grande Seconde Skelet-One

December 11, 2018

Total Transparency,

The Grande Seconde represents the essence of the Jaquet Droz art of watch making. The brand has changed the composition of its dial, for the first time integrating a sapphire dial into a skeletal design. Bathed in light, the balance of the Grande Seconde is found in the contrast of full and empty surfaces.

The sapphire dial, on which the large second hand turns, allows one to admire the skeletal movement, which is constructed in successive layers, visible from the side. The base plate is now completely openwork, while the casing ring has been eliminated, allowing extra light into the heart of the movement. At 12 o’clock, the hours and minutes turn around a sapphire hour ring mounted on a gold base. Five indexed screws, which can be oriented in any chosen direction, hold the ensemble together.

Key points: In a new architectural interpretation of its icon, the Grande Seconde Skelet-One lets light penetrate into the movement, playing with surfaces that are decorated or empty.

Plus: The objective of this design is to let light shine to the deepest reaches of the Grande Seconde, while preserving the figure “8” shape that is its aesthetic signature.

Characteristics: La Grande Seconde Skelet-One, with its 41mm diameter, comes in three versions: red gold, white gold, and ceramic; Sapphire dial, silicon double barrel, balance spring, and lugs; Hand-assembled caliber, Cal. 2663 SQ.

Ressence: Type 1² "Squared"

September 11, 2018

More intuitive, more functional, more playful, more pure…

Ressence, otherwise known as Renaissance de l’Essentiel, is a brand that places the end-user in the heart of its first collection of watches. Their goal is to show the essence of time in the most intuitive way possible, while showcasing an ergonomic accent on functionality.

It’s thanks to its new way of telling time, ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System), that this watch truly stands out. Entirely designed and developed in-house, this unique watch-making complication is composed of different sized disks, which are curved to follow the rounded shape of the convex glass covering them. All of the time-keeping indications of the Ressence watches are generated by the ROCS from the basic information provided by the automatic movement: the minute axel.

Research for better ergonomics has led to the organic design and fluidity of the Ressence watches, which ensures the removal of any impurities. The size of the case is almost invisible and the there is no winding stem. It’s the revolving dial under a domed sapphire crystal that takes on task of keeping perfect time.

Key points: The very flat case and revolving discs on the watch face make the Type 1² model especially elegant.

Plus: The principal display dial as well as the auxiliary dials, rotate continually, as if moons orbiting around a planet.

Richard Mille: RM 53-01 Tourbillon Pablo Mac Donough

August 9, 2018

Don’t Be “Shocked”

The goal of the ultra-innovative RM 53-01: imagine a watch so extremely shock resistant it can support even the most violent impacts of a polo game, all the while revealing its movement.

Richard Mille looked to the automobile industry to get its inspiration for high-tech laminated glass. In this case, a polyvinyl film is sandwiched between two sapphire glasses, marking a first in watch making. The glass might crack, but will not break. Anti-UV and anti-reflection treatment also protect the movement from the exterior environment, another exclusivity patented by Richard Mille.

With an innovative reinforced structure, the barrel-shaped case is made of Carbone TPT®, providing phenomenal resistance and making it virtually indestructible. The blend of undulated design and the sharp lines of the case add a sporty look to this cutting-edge timepiece.

Characteristics: Carbone TPT case, Sapphire glass laminated with anti-UV and anti-reflection treatment, tourbillon movement with manual winding, double base-plates (central and peripheral), base-plates and bridges in Grade 5 titanium.

Limited edition of 30 watches in Carbone TPT®

Key points: Sporty and innovative, the RM 53-01 represents the “shock” of the encounter between Richard Mille and Pablo Mac Donough, one of the world’s best polo players.

Plus: The tourbillon movement is suspended by two braided steel cables to be ultra shock-resistant. The unusual architecture of this watch design called for the development of dual base-plates.

A sporty vintage look, for men and women

The new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph symbolizes a true passion for racing, classic automobiles, and the Italian dolce vita: a passion now represented by Chopard in this new watch with feminine and masculine styles. A blend of precision, comfort, and elegance, these timepieces are the perfect accessories for drivers on the Alpine roads between Brescia and Rome—round trip at top speeds!

Inspired by the beauty of classic automobiles, the elegant curves, openwork case, and silver dial recall historic racing cars, while the chronometer-certified engine expresses a perfect pairing of automobile design and mechanical watch making

Key points: Named after a famous Italian automobile race, where Chopard has proudly served as the official timekeeper for the past 30 years, these two new watch models are a tribute to this classic car race.

Plus: Both models feature a rubber strap, a sly reference to the famous Dunlop Racing Tires from the 1960s, in snow white for the women’s watch and ebony black for the men’s version.

Louis Moinet: Memoris

July 16, 2018

A Complete Redefinition Of Watch-Making Aesthetics

To pay tribute to Louis Moinet, artist, watchmaker, humanist, and the renowned inventor of the chronograph in 1816, Moinet Ateliers added a new element to its heritage: Memoris. The chronograph is no longer an additional function of the watch, but has become its aesthetic and technical focal point.

This revolutionary timepiece can be admired in its entirety as soon as the pusher is pressed. The clutch column wheel orchestrates the graceful ballet of the mechanism, transmitting information to the hands. The chronograph reigns alone on the dial.

Key points: Memoris was a prizewinner at the international Good Design Awards, one of the most highly renowned competitions. Its design goes beyond its utilitarian vocation, adding a touch of soul, the stuff that dreams are made of and a coherent aesthetic vision of what beauty should be.

Plus: The illusion is complete: the stars illuminate the midnight blue background. Each star is individually fashioned using a system of fixed burins, according to the different angles and depths that allow them, one by one, to capture as much light as possible. A first in watch-making design!

Characteristics: White or rose gold 46mm case, Waterproof to 5 ATM, Sapphire crystal, Crocodile leather strap

An Iconic Bag By Louis Vuitton

The Capucines bag, highly popular for its unique design and clean lines, marks a perfect mix of innovation and creativity. The name of this timeless style is a reference to Rue des Capucines, where the first-ever Louis Vuitton boutique opened its doors in 1854.
Both fashtionable and feminine, the Capucines bag stands out for its versatility, its excellent quality leather, and its elegant, structured design.

Two new versions:

Flower Smile
For the 2018 Summer Collection, Louis Vuitton presents Flower Smile, a pretty version of the Capucines bag. This model features the signature “V” created by alternating Monogram flowers in Taurillon leather and Taiga leather crests adorned with metal studs. The detachable shoulder strap on the PM version is decorated with gilded Monogram flowers.

Sweet Brogues
The delicate perforations along the top and the handle of the Capucines Sweet Brogues bag in Taurillon leather create a Monogram floral motif that contrasts with pale lambskin. Feminine and ideal to be used everyday, this PM model can be carried as a handbag or worn with a detachable shoulder strap.

Key points: The Capucines bag is a versatile, 2 in 1 style: it can be worn with the flap on the inside or outside, depending on the desired look.

Plus: Exclusive, limited editions are created every season, so that those who love the Capucines bag are continually surprised.

Characteristics: Made of Taurillon, high-quality calfskin, this bag comes in four different sizes.

Roger Dubuis: Excalibur AVENTADOR S

May 24, 2018

High-Tech Teamwork

A stunning example of highly complicated watch making inspired by the automotive world, the partnership between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse has roared onto the scene with the Excalibur Aventador S.

Driven by a passion for the complexity of cutting-edge technology, a passion shared by Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse, this high-performance watch perfectly incarnates the signature motto of these two partners: “Powered by Raging Mechanics.” The watch is powered by an impressive system with a Duotor caliber RD103SQ movement with double balance wheel and a total of 312 redesigned components.

This caliber stands out especially for its stabilizing bars that reflect the emblematic principal of the Roger Dubuis Astral Skeleton, by providing a stark contrast with the rest of the movement, as if the cover of a motor was transparent. Inspired by the longitudinal mounting of Lamborghini motors, adapted to aerodynamic design and racing car lines, the double balance wheel is buttressed and emphasized by triangular supports in the form of suspension.

The Excalibur Adventador S is manufactured using the same C-SMC carbon fiber as used for Lamborghinis. The majesty of this model is highlighted by the bi-material strap in black rubber with an incrustation of green rubber and green accents on the crown and bezel.

Key points: The Excalibur Aventador S flies the colors of Lamborghini with its iconic green used for certain pieces of this innovative watch.

Plus: This model is stamped with the Poinçon de Genève, the ultimate mark of excellence for the best in traditional watch making.

Characteristics: RD103SQ double balances with spring-loaded differential; Mechanical caliber, manual rewinding; 40-hour power reserve; Case: 45mm

Hublot: BIG-BANG MP-11

May  22,  2018

3D  Carbon,  Smoky  Black

A  leader  in  the  shaping  and  industrialization  of  high-tech  materials,  Hublot  breaks  the  glass  ceiling  with  a  case  in  3D  carbon—a  composite  of  polymer  matrix  (PMC)  woven  with  three-dimensional  fibers.  Ultra  light  and  highly  resistant,  the  case  houses  a  movement  with  exceptional  properties.  The  unique  architecture  and  ultra  complex  movement  mark  an  unparalleled  aesthetic  and  performance.

The  Challenge

The  hour  and  minute  display  is  driven  by  a  vertical  gear  train.  The  force  of  the  barrels  is  tilted  on  a  perpendicular  plane  by  a  transmission  system  rarely  used  in  watch-making:  the  90°  degree  gear  wheel  with  helical  teeth,  like  an  “endless  screw.”In  another  new  feature  for  this  innovative  caliber,  the  balance  wheel  is  transposed  to  the  dial  side  to  create  symmetry  with  the  helical  gear.  Vibrating  at  4  Hz,  the  watch  features  a  newly  patented  index  assembly  system.

New  Generation  Carbon

The  three-dimensional  carbon  structure  creates  unique  facets  and  reflections.  The  45mm  transparent  dial  with  smoked  glass  sides  reveals  an  engine-inspired  architecture,  allows  the  black  PVD-treated  mechanism  to  be  admired  with  its  polymer  matrix  composite  case. In  addition,  this  nouveau  movement  with  exceptional  autonomy  can  be  wound  by  hand  using  the  large  fluted  crown  or  with  the  help  of  an  electric  Torx  stylus  inspired  by  racing  cars.

Key  points:  Made  in  3D  carbon,  this  new  watch  dubbed  “All  Black”  provides  an  exceptional  view  of  its  seven  barrels  coupled  in  series,  and  the  display  roll  for  the  power  reserve.  This  multi-cylindrical  construction,  positioned  on  a  horizontal  axis,  guarantees  a  movement  with  two  weeks  of  autonomy.  Anexploit!

Plus:  The  new  Big-Bang  MP-11  is  also  available  in  a  sapphire  model  with  absolute  transparency.

Characteristics:  45mm  case  diameter,  3D  carbon  case,  3D  carbon  bezel,  openwork  movement,  HUB9011manufacture  hand-winding,  seven  barrels  coupled  in  series  with  a  display  roll  for  the  power  reserve,  270  parts  including  39  rubies,  waterproof  to  30  meters,  14  days  autonomy,  strap  in  structured  black  rubber.

Phenomen: Axiom

March 19, 2018

A New Brand Born Of Unified Ideas

The heart of the matter for Alexandre Meyer, CEO and co-founder of Phenomen, is the intersection of design and technique, of styles and materials, of dreams and reality. “I come from the world of automobiles where the body design counts as much as the engine. I wanted to transpose this coherent vision and unification to the world of watchmaking, not without adding a personal touch, innovative, audacious, and based on aspects of French culture,” notes Meyer.

Next came the meeting of ingenuity and creation. When the paths of Alexandre Meyer and Sylvain Nourisson crossed, the result was the formation of a team determined to explore new opportunities. The former is an engineer and designer, the latter a watchmaker and creator. Maxime Colson, who designs watch prototypes, quickly joined the founding duo.

From the first sketch to the final assembly, every step in creating a watch is made in Besanc, France. The fabrication of the watch movement is entrusted to independent specialists, with the “Swiss Made” label, in the same way as Atokalpa, La Joux Perret, or Mimotec.

Phenomen, the first creation for the Axiom brand, is subtle yet strong, with two characteristics essential to a watch: showcasing the movement and an original design.

With its rare complexity, the case allows the movement to be angled, with an amphitheatre layer, allowing for legible time readout. This architecture inspires special visual emotion with the spectacular arrangement of the emblematic elements of the movement such as the balance wheel or the escape wheel.

Evoking an aerodynamic silhouette, the trapezoid lines of the bezel and its truncated vertical termination recall the backs of certain iconic cars such as the Ferrari 365 GTB 4 Panther Shooting or the unmistakable lines of the Mustang Fastback.

The movement of a marine chronometer is not built flay, but on several levels. The PH-010 movement is the same, with a first layer housing the two barrels as well as the finishing gear train and the winding system. The two retrograde displays are located on a second level. And finally, a third level contains the escape wheel. Seen in profile, the movement has the shape of a semi-pyramid.

In addition, the PH-010 movement comprises multiple original technical solutions, in tribute to golden age of horology. From the shape of the bridges to the utilization of pillars to support the third level, each aspect of this watch illustrates the extreme care put into every detail, and is a testament to the love of beautiful work.

Axiom stands out for its original and direct time readout, with a display of 100 degrees. This allows the human eye to immediately see the time without having to scan the 360 degrees of a traditional timepiece.

Key points: Phenomen, an independent luxury French watchmaker, combines strong horological design with a precision movement, both symbols of their bold and original “French Touch.”

Le plus: Axiom represents the ultimate French watch for those who are passionate about automobiles. This watch recalls the dials of a sports car, and has earned its place in the long tradition of driver’s watches, or timepieces created for racecar drivers. The ultimate goal: to put the time on the wrist of a driver so they don’t have to take their eyes off the road.

Characteristics: Double retrograde hour and minute readout on raised amphitheatre setting with integrated 3D hands; Independent correction for hour and minutes; Grade 5 titanium case; Upper and lower sapphire crystal with anti-reflection treatment; Two crowns; Waterproof to 30 meters; Twin-barrel mechanical movement with manual rewinding; Exclusive Phenomen variable inertia balance wheel; 100 hours of reserve power; Alligator strap; Exclusive grade 5 Titanium folding buckle.

Opposites Attract

In 2016, Valérie Messika presented a new interpretation of a grand classic in jewelry design, Toi et Moi (You and Me). The leading collection of the French diamond house, Messika, the Toi et Moi My Twin collection provides a new way to seal one’s love, through the unexpected juxtaposition of different size diamonds. Between opposition and balance, the ring wraps around the finger, where the two the stones mingle and mix without ever touching. These modern, elegant settings beautifully reflect light through their movement.

Key points: Messika celebrates the perfect union of pear-cut, emerald-cut, and oval-cut diamonds in the My Twin collection.

MB&F: Horological Machine N° 7 Aquapod

February 20, 2018

Take a deep breath…

MB&F, the world’s leading conceptual horology laboratory, is celebrating more than 10 years of intensive creativity with 15 extraordinary calibers that animate their Horological Machines and Legacy Machines that are applauded in the press, and are the basis of the international renown of MB&F.

After having pushed the limits of horological mechanics with futuristic designs to be propelled into space (HM2, HM3, HM6), in the sky (HM4), on roads and racetracks (HM5, HMX, HM8), MB&F plunges into the deep with its aquatic Horological Machine N° 7, alias HM7 Aquapod.

The HM7 Aquapod, the watch inspired by a jellyfish

Maximilian Büsser, the founder of MB&F, had the idea to create an aquatic watch as a souvenir of a family vacation by the sea, and an encounter with a jellyfish in particular. More than just anecdotal, this event sowed the seeds for a three-dimensional watch with a tentacle-shaped winding rotor.

The organic design of the HM7 Aquapod is counterbalanced by the mechanism lodged in the interior: a central tourbillion dominates the vertical, concentric construction of the movement and the hours and minutes float around, like waves on the ocean.

The HM7 Aquapod was born in the shape of a horological jellyfish, with its carefully designed biomorphic motor. Jellyfish have radial symmetry, as does the Aquapod. So while a jellyfish eats food grasped by its tentacles, the HM7 gets its energy from the automatic tentacle-shaped winding rotor.

Key points: While the HM7 Aquapod is as modern as possible, the concept of the three-dimensional spherical construction is age-old. Its origins lie in the “onion” pocket watches popular in the 18th century. While most of the horology movements were developed horizontally, incredibly detailed research allowed the motor of the HM7 to be higher than it is wide, with elements mounted vertically.

Plus: Like many jellyfish, the HM7 glows at night. The numbers for the hours and minutes are illuminated, and there is illumination around the movement... The light reveals the flying tourbillion, as well as the tentacles of the winding rotor.

The HM7 Aquapod is a limited edition of 33 watches in grade-5 titanium with a blue bezel, and a second edition of 66 in 5N+rose gold with a black bezel. Both have luminescent blue details.

Characteristics: The architecture of the movement comprises three-dimensional verticality with automatic rewinding conceived and developed internally MB&F; 60-second central flying tourbillion; 72-hour reserve power; 35 rubies; Spherical case construction; First editions in grade-5 titanium or 5N+ 18K rose gold; waterproof to 50 meters; Sapphire crystal treated with antireflective coating; High-quality aero-nautical rubber strap.

Sea Memory

February 19, 2018

So many things to see…

If you have never peered inside the door of a cabinet of curiosities, now is the time. Sea Memory is brimming with furniture and accessories for your home, all quite unique in a variety of eclectic and precious materlals.

Rhinoceros, horse, hippopotamus...

At first glance, it seems as if these little animals, which are pretty impressive looking in the boutique, are decorative objects. In the 1930’s, it was common for well-to-do houses in Europe to have an animal made of leather, either as a decorative piece or for children. Today, more than just for decoration or a plaything, these animals are also stools.

Rhinoceros, house, hippopotamus... these stools in the form of animals catch everyone’s eye. Sea Memory has launched a new collection of leather animals and added modern functionality, such as interior reinforcement that allows adults to sit on them.

In terms of design, this original stool fits perfectly in your home, from the living room to the bedroom, or even the bar.

Certain of these pieces are made in galuchat, stingray leather. This leather is very resistant and perfect to use as veneer on wood. Scattered with sparkling pearls, the result is sumptuous.

Plus: Something you can’t live without, or the perfect gift? Sea Memory ships internationally.

CHANEL: Premiere Tourbillon Volant

January 19, 2018

The dial of the Tourbillon Volant with a stylized camellia

To mark the 25th anniversary of its first horology collection, CHANEL has created a new timepiece that allows women to enter the world of complicated watch mechanisms. Inspired by the geometric octagonal shape of the CHANEL N°5 bottle and of the Place Vendôme, Chanel has created a feminine incursion into the complexity of horology that is as mysterious as it is beautiful and poetic.

The diamond-covered case of this beautiful Première watch subtly marries the art and perfection of luxury horology with the couture spirit of the house of CHANEL.

The development of this exceptional watch is the fruit of a close collaboration between CHANEL and the artisans, engineers, and master Swiss watchmakers at Renaud & Papi (APRP SA)—the advanced research and development arm of Audemars Piguet—making a first for both of these companies.

Characteristics: Case in 18K white gold with set with 47 baguette-cut rubies (~3,83 carats), bezel in 18K white gold set with 42 baguette-cut rubies (~2,96 carats) and 52 brilliant-cut diamonds (~1,48 carat), dial of high-tech black ceramic, crown in 18K white gold carats set with 16 baguette cut rubies (~0,32 carat) and 11 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0,16 carat), black alligator strap and double folding clasp in 18K white gold set with 30 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0,33 carat), self-winding mechanical watch, waterproof to 30 meters.

Key points: The dial of the Tourbillon Volant is decorated with a stylized camellia, Mademoiselle Chanel’s favorite flower. This subtly hides the tourbillion at the heart of the Première watch, which is supported by a bridge from the movement and not on the dial side.

Plus: A combination of beauty and purity, power and femininity, the Tourbillon Volant with its stylized camellia is dressed in yellow, beige, or white gold with shimmering diamonds. Choice of bezel set sapphires, pink sapphires, rubies, or diamonds.

The Fouets et Badines Square

The popular silk square scarf is emblematic of the French fashion house Hermès.

Virginie Jamin, an expert in creating skillfully arranged compositions, frequently draws her inspiration from the collection of Émile Hermès. On each of her visits, the designer finds intriguing objects that are transformed into motifs for her next square scarf design.

This time she fixed her eye on an album noted as “colportage” dating from the start of the 19th century, proposing riding crops, canes, and other pieces from the collection. Her imagination completed this ensemble, in which she includes braided leather, sculpted wood, and carved ivory. A supple network of intertwined leather straps contrasts with the strict diagonal array of whip handles, many embellished with dogs’ or horses’ heads.

Key points: A signature Hermès design, the silk square is a timeless, indispensable fashion accessory.

Plus: This square exists en several colors: red, blue, or gold.

Richard Mille: RM 033

December 18, 2017

RM 033 Extra-Flat Automatic Watch

With an extra-flat movement, the goal of this watch is to be especially elegant and subtle. The entire virtuosity of a master watchmaker resides in the capacity to accomplish something that is almost invisible. As a result, all of the constraints of creation are made even more difficult due to the small size.

One of the characteristics of the extra-flat automatic RM 033 resides in the off-center disposition of the micro-rotor on the interior of the automatic caliber RMXP1. This construction gains several precious millimeters in the overall height of the watch, which has a 33mm movement with a thickness of just 2.60mm, making the case just 6.30mm deep. To ensure a perfect distribution of the parts and optimal functioning, the off-center mono-bloc micro rotor is made of platinum and is bidirectional. This allows for the barrel to be efficiently rewound, and helps create the compact global dimensions for this skeletal, extra-flat movement. The caliber RMXP1 comprises 29 rubies and a frequency of 3Hz.

An Innovative And Elegant Watch

Various details constitute the signature of this simple, yet elegant watch, such as the variable inertia balance wheel, the 42-hour power reserve, the movement’s 16 spline screws in grade 5 titanium, the design of the case, its rigorous execution, the ceramic stem with double joint torque.

Characteristics: Round case, available in titanium, or 18-carat white or red gold, caliber RMPX1. Skeletal dial, automatic rewinding, with hours and minutes, and off center mono-block micro-rotor, variable inertia balance wheel, grade 5 titanium with Titalyt® coating on platinum, and PVD treatment for the bridges, sapphire dial; waterproof up to 30 meters thanks to two torque joints in nitril; 42-hour power reserve.

Key points: One of the characteristics of the automatic extra-flat RM 033 resides in the off-center disposition of the micro-rotor on the interior of the automatic caliber RMXP1. This construction gains several precious millimeters in the overall size of the watch, which has a 33mm movement with a thickness of just 2.60mm.

Le plus: The case is made using the unique construction of three parts and is assembled using 16 spline screws in grade 5 titanium and washers in highly abrasion-resistant 316L stainless steel. The design in completed by the integration of the lugs into the case.

Blancpain: The new Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe

December 15, 2017

Bathyscaphe, A New Member To The Family

With a vintage feel, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, presented for the first time in 2013, expands its collection with a timepiece in a smaller 38mm case. Both the dial and bezel are in Abyss Blue, a symbolic color for Blancpain as it recalls the depths of the sea.

History Of A Legend

Blancpain’s Bathyscaphe diver watches were first seen in the 1950s with models for men, and later for women. In 2013, for the 60th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms, the Bathyscaphe model took on a new look, inspired by the first versions. The contours were as stylish as their predecessors and the wide, rectangular hands recall classic watches.

Silicon Balance Spring

An innovation for the watch-making industry over the past few decades, silicon has several advantages: hardness as well as lightness, as well as more shock resistant, and does not respond to magnetic fields. Thanks to these properties, the spring benefits from an almost perfect geometry that by consequence improves the isochronism of the movement and therefore the precision of the watch.

Characteristics: Three hands in a 38mm case, stainless steel bezel with blue ceramic insert, with numerals and indices in Liquidmetal®, 100-hour power reserve, caliber 1150, waterproof 3 bars or up to 300 meters, silicon balance spring, sapphire back that allows you to see the solid gold rotor recovered with NAC (a platinum alloy).

Key points: The Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe is powered by Caliber 1150, which is distinguished by its robustness and chronometer characteristics.

Plus: Like all diving watches worthy of their name, each model is equipped with a unidirectional bezel that rotates counter-clockwise by small notches. True to the original version of the Bathyscaphe, the luminescent dot on the bezel serves as an index for divers, enabling accurate alignment with the minutes hand and thereby defining the start of a given dive time.

Graff: The eternal twins

November 9, 2017

A magnificent pair of 50,23 carat d flawless emerald cut diamonds

Over the course of the last five decades Graff has passionately pursued the pinnacle of excellence in sourcing, cutting, polishing and setting the most fabulous jewels in the world.

With unwavering dedication to the transformation of a rare diamond from its rough state, into a polished masterpiece, Graff has dominated the list of exceptional stones cut and polished this century.

Two identical stones of beautiful proportions and quality have joined Graff’s roll call of exceptional diamonds.

The opportunity to cut two stones of such magnitude from the same rough is not only exceptionally rare, but demonstrates the exemplary cutting and polishing expertise of the House.

On the discovery of a stunning 269 carat rough diamond from the Lucara Karowe mine in Botswana, Graff’s elite team of gemmologists were tasked with carrying out the risky process of unleashing its true potential.

Its natural internal flaws and nuances were mapped precisely into a specialised computer system to create an exact digital replica of the rough, which was then studied for many hours to determine the individual character of the stone and how best to transform it into a polished masterpiece.

With careful planning, Graff’s senior cutters lasered the rough, separating and defining the emerald cuts which were then polished by hand by the House’s highly skilled team. Two rectangular emerald cuts emerged from the inner depths of the rough; identical in weight and perfect in proportion.

An emerald cut is faceted differently to a round brilliant cut, with long clean lines; this means that the visibility of flaws is increased so the highest clarity is required. The cut also showcases a masterly play of light between the facets of the stone, perfected by Graff’s expert team.

To cut and polish two stones to the exact same size and weight is incredibly challenging and a decision made from the beginning of the cutting and polishing process. Furthermore, to produce two D Flawless emerald cut diamonds from the same rough, and exceeding 50 carats each, is extremely rare and a true testament to Graff’s knowledge, skill and commitment to pushing the boundaries of diamond expertise.

The Eternal Twins have been set in a pair of earrings incorporating a total of 132.53 carats of exceptional diamonds. Graff’s master craftsmen and design team have combined true artistry with breath-taking fire and scintillation in the creation of these beautiful jewels.

Graff takes great pride and responsibility in knowing that these gems of everlasting beauty will pass from generation to generation, taking their place in history for eternity.

The Ultrachic bodysuit is sumptuous in silk crepe adorned with bands of lace on the length of its sleeves, at the wrists, neck, and around the thighs. It is worn bloused at the waist with the low-cut back closed by a single button, or left open for a dressier evening allure.

Key points: These chic undergarments, meticulously manufactured by Eres, have a multi-layered patterned look that creates a graphic effect on the skin.

Plus: Treat yourself on a daily basis by adding pretty lingerie to your urban outfits, such as a lacy bustier under a kimono jacket, a cardigan, or a silk shirt. Another special detail: tone on tone for a feel of very subtle transparency.

Frederique Constant: Runabout

Frederique Constant launches two new Runabouts, paying homage to the graceful Riva boats of the 1920s where elegance and style ruled the social scene.

A Longstanding Partnership

In 2009, Frederique Constant debuted its collaboration with the Riva Historical Society alongside Piero Mario Gibellini and Carlos Riva whose sole purpose is to preserve the remaining Riva boats worldwide, and helping their owners safeguard their prized possessions in the best way possible. With the launching of these two new watches, Frederique Constant honors their commitment to preserving the Riva name and what it stands for.

From Sea to Land

In that same year, Frederique Constant launched its first Runabout timepiece named after the legendary Runabout yachts of the 1920s. Considered the European elite of Runabouts, the Riva Runabouts were originally small, fast and powerful and could welcome four to eight people; they were perfect for pleasure activities such as fishing, water sports or just cruising. Riva Runabouts are the ideal muse to draw inspiration from and design an elegant and stylish, Italian-inspired watch.

Refined Elegance

Both new versions of the Frederique Constant Runabout embody a classic, sophisticated watch featuring hours, minutes, seconds, date and a 24h GMT with a guilloché-decorated dial and applied luminous indexes. The whole is completed by a 44mm polished stainless steel 3-parts case, a see-through case back, which displays the inner workings of the FC-350 movement featuring an in-house GMT module. The first option features a silver-colored dial with a blue GMT hand with a matching navy blue leather strap. While the second option offers a dark grey dial contrasting with a white GMT hand with a light brown leather strap. Both versions are a Limited Edition of 2’888 pieces each, and are delivered in a luxurious wooden gift box including a detailed-wooden Runabout boat miniature.

The partnership between Frederique Constant and the Riva Historical Society carries on with these two new additions to the Runabout Collection, making the 1920s elegance and style live on through them.

An incredible new timepiece, Breguet’s Marine Équation Marchante is big news. It embraces different design concepts that give it an allure that is both modern and dynamic: the strap pins are highly polished, the fluting is more open, with visible sides, a crown mounted on a B with a sanded and polished base, decorated with beveled waves in tribute to the art of sailing

Characteristics: Platinum 950 case, fluted case band, sapphire case back, 43.9mm diameter, waterproof—10 bar, face in blue and gold, hand guilloched, individually number and signed by Breguet. Luminescent hours displayed with Roman numerals. Features include perpetual rotor automatic winding system, mechanical movement with running Equation of Time, perpetual calendar, 60-second tourbillon, a power reserve of 80 hours, 581DPE caliber, 57 rubies, escape wheel in silicon, and inversed anchor with silicon pins, alligator strap with adjustable buckle in gold.

Key points: Based on the automatic 581DR caliber, this watch has a 60-second tourbillon, whose titanium case houses a Breguet escape wheel with silicon balance spring. This innovation notably allows the escape wheel to reach a frequency of 4 Hz while maintaining a comfortable power reserve on an automatic timepiece.

Tudor: born to dare

One of the most admired, gifted and successful football players of all time, a philanthropist, an entrepreneur and a global style icon, David Beckham’s life journey embodies the daring values that made Tudor what it is today.

Tudor is Born to Dare

In 2017, Tudor launched a new campaign with the “Born To Dare” signature. It reflects both the history of the brand and what it stands for today. Daring individuals have long chosen Tudor while achieving the extraordinary on land, ice, in the air and underwater. It also refers to the vision of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Tudor, who manufactured Tudor watches to withstand the most extreme conditions, watches made for the most daring lifestyle indeed. It finally tells of the singular approach Tudor is known for today, having pioneered now major trends within the watchmaking industry.

The Tudor “Born To Dare” spirit is expressed in a campaign manifesto (below and extended version in annex) and supported globally by ambassadors whose life achievements directly result from a daring approach to life. David Beckham is one of them and Tudor is proud to welcome him to its family.

Devoted to the classic

David Beckham is a multi-faceted man with a taste for finer things. “Especially as an Englishman I think you really appreciate a nice suit and a nice watch. They go very well together” he says. A long-time wristwatch lover, he came to know Tudor through its sibling brand, Rolex, of which he owns several timepieces. “I was attracted to Tudor by the attention to detail I could see in their watches. I then learned about the history of the brand. One of adventure, pioneer diving and daring expeditions. I was instantly hooked”.

David Beckham wears the Black Bay S&G, a vintage-inspired steel and gold diver’s watch as well as

the Black Bay Chrono, a COSC-certified chronograph with column-wheel manufacture calibre drawing upon Tudor's diving and motorsports heritage.

Born for a purpose

As a child, David Beckham had a dream. Whenever asked about what he would want to be later in life he invariably answered “a football player”. This early drive led him to become one of the most acclaimed, loved and successful players in the history of the game. With three major clubs and 115 selections in the English football team, 59 as captain, he left his mark: 6 England Championship titles, 2 Major League Soccer cups, one time Champion of Spain and one time UEFA Champion.

He might not have been the best scorer, nor the fastest player, but he had a unique style, both precise and spectacular. One of perfect passes, extraordinary kicks and supreme accuracy that proved decisive on the field. “Bend it like Beckham” says it all about his brand of game. By daring to go all the way, always, David Beckham made his childhood dream a reality.

Created in a spirit of casual elegance and practicality, the new Overseas watches equipped with Manufacture movements – including three new calibres – embody the new generation of self-winding timepieces inspired by the spirit of travel. The models world time, chronograph and automatic/date and small model are now offered with brown dials.

Like the other references from the Overseas collection, these new watches in steel bear the Hallmark of Geneva and are fitted with easily interchangeable bracelets/straps, a guarantee of comfort anywhere in the world.

Une signature

Flowing, ergonomic lines, subtle light effects and delicate finishes place the new Overseas models firmly within a timeless yet distinctly contemporary aesthetic universe. The curves of the case ensure seamless integration with the bracelet or strap, a feature that is both technically sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing. The six-sided bezel and the fluted crown with its grooves evoke the Maison design codes. Coated with a translucent brown lacquer that intensifies the depth effect, the dials alternate between sunburst, snailed and velvety finishes. The screwed-down caseback fitted with a sapphire crystal reveals the 22K gold oscillating weight adorned with sandblasted, polished and finely grained finishes, and with a wind rose, a universal symbol indicating the cardinal points for travelers.

Overseas heures du monde Calibre 2460 WT

The brown dial of the Overseas world time displays no less than 37 time zones, including those that are off-set by a half-hour or quarter-hour in relation to UTC time. The display comprises three parts. The centre features a “Lambert” projection map depicting the continents (enhanced by a sunburst satin-brushed finish) and the oceans (in a velvet finish), along with a translucent lacquered disc bearing the city names. A third sapphire disc laid over the map provides day/night indications by means of subtly graded smoky tints, synchronised with the 24-hour disc. Finally, a translucent lacquered velvet-finished outer ring serves to indicate the hours and minutes.

An ideal travel companion, the Overseas world time model features a 43.5 mm-diameter case housing Caliber 2460 WT. This self-winding movement patented, developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations) per hour and enjoys a 40-hour power reserve. Its 22K gold oscillating weight bears a wind rose – a universal symbol indicating the cardinal points for travellers – adorned with sandblasted, polished and finely grained finishing. All the indications powered by this mechanism are smoothly and easily adjusted via the crown.

Overseas chronograph Calibre 5200

The Overseas Chronograph watch bearing the Hallmark of Geneva is equipped with Calibre 5200, the new self-winding chronograph movement developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin. The result of a five-year development process, this 263-component calibre is fitted with a column wheel coordinating the chronograph start, stop and reset functions, whereas a vertical coupling clutch prevents any jerking of the hand when the chronograph starts. The column wheel is adorned with a screw shaped like the Manufacture’s signature Maltese cross emblem. This movement is equipped with a twin barrel enhancing its torque and its reliability while ensuring over 50 hours of power reserve. Protected from magnetic fields by a soft iron ring, it powers the hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph and date indications. These functions are all displayed on a brown dial adorned with sunburst, snailed and velvety finishes. The gold facetted hands and hour-markers hands are coated with a luminescent material ensuring optimal readability.

The Overseas Chronograph comes in a stainless steel 42.5 mm-diameter case. Its screwed-down pushpieces, crown and caseback guarantee water-resistance to 150 metres, while its transparent back reveals a 22K gold oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose. Like the other references from the Overseas collection with blue and silver-toned dials, this new stainless steel model is delivered with three interchangeable bracelet/straps: a steel bracelet with an easy-fit system, along with rubber and leather straps. The two latter are fitted with an equally interchangeable stainless steel folding clasp.

Overseas Calibre 5100

Hours, minutes, seconds, date: this Overseas model displays essential functions with an aura of natural distinction. Nestled in a 41 mm-diameter case in stainless steel, the new Calibre 5100 entirely designed, developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin is composed of 172 parts. It beats at the rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and is endowed with a comfortable more than 60- hour power reserve guaranteed by its twin barrels (ensuring the constancy of the torque delivered to the regulating organ). The transparent screwed-down caseback reveals the precious 22K gold oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose. This timepiece certified by the Hallmark of Geneva adopts a sunburst brown dial, swept over by gold luminescent hands and hour-markers. Anti-magnetic thanks to the soft iron ring surrounding its movement and water-resistant to 150 metres, this model lends itself to all occasions with its three interchangeable bracelet/straps: a stainless steel bracelet with an easy-fit sizing system; as well as two straps in rubber and leather respectively. The latter are supplied with an equally adjustable stainless steel folding clasp.

Overseas petit modèle Calibre 5300

The Overseas Small Model is adorned with 84 round-cut diamonds totalling over one carat and daintily set on its six-sided bezel. At the heart of its stainless steel 37 mm-diameter case beats the new Calibre 5300 developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin. This 128-part self-winding movement powers the hours, minutes and small seconds at 9 o’clock, while ensuring an approximately two-day power reserve. The Overseas small model comes with a brown dial. A pair of gold luminescent hands sweep around the matching hour-markers punctuating this perfectly legible dial face. The back of the watch provides an equally enchanting sight by revealing the 22K gold oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose. Proudly bearing the prestigious Hallmark of

Geneva, the Overseas small model in steel comes with three interchangeable bracelet/straps and an interchangeable folding clasp.

Rolex cosmograph daytona

October 20, 2017

A chronometer born to race,

Rolex is introducing three new versions of its Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold. These versions are fitted on the innovative Oysterflex bracelet in elastomer reinforced with a metal blade, and are equipped with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel, patented by Rolex, in black ceramic. This latest evolution is a blend of high technology and sleek aesthetics, and pays tribute to the heritage of this legendary chronograph. The black bezel is reminiscent of the 1965 model that was fitted with a black Plexiglas bezel insert.

Like all Rolex watches, these new Cosmograph Daytona versions carry the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015, which ensures singular performance on the wrist.

Created by Rolex in 1963, the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is a watch born to race. It has established an extraordinary track record in the world of motor sport thanks to its reliability and performance. Known simply as the “Daytona”, it has risen to the rank of an icon as one of the best known chronographs in the world.

A key part of the model’s identity is the bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 units of distance – miles or kilometres – per hour.

The monobloc Cerachrom bezel in high-tech ceramic offers a number of advantages: it is corrosion resistant, virtually scratchproof and the colour is unaffected by UV rays. This extremely durable bezel also offers an exceptionally legible tachymetric scale, thanks to the deposition of a thin layer of 18 ct gold or platinum in the numerals and graduations via a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process. The monobloc Cerachrom bezel is made in a single piece and holds the crystal firmly in place on the middle case, ensuring waterproofness.

The Cosmograph Daytona’s Oyster case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a paragon of robustness, proportion and elegance. Its characteristically shaped middle case is crafted from a solid block of 18 ct gold. Its fluted case back is hermetically screwed down with a special tool that allows only Rolex watchmakers to access the movement. The winding crown – fitted with the Triplock triple water- proofness system – as well as the chronograph pushers screw down securely against the case. Its crown guard is an integral part of the middle case. The crystal is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire. The water- proof Oyster case provides optimum protection for the Cosmograph Daytona’s high-precision movement.

The Cosmograph Daytona is equipped with calibre 4130, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Its architecture, a composite of Rolex technology, was completely re-engineered: the number of components for the chronograph function was reduced significantly, thereby enhancing the movement’s reliability.

The robust chronograph is engaged by a mechanism with a column wheel and vertical clutch, allowing an instant- aneous and extremely precise start. The oscillator, the true heart of the watch, has a blue Parachrom hairspring patented and manufactured by Rolex in an exclusive alloy. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the Parachrom hairspring offers great stability in the face of temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more precise than a traditional hairspring in case of shocks. A Rolex overcoil ensures its regularity in any position. Calibre 4130 is equipped with a self-winding module featuring a Perpetual rotor and boasts a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

The new Cosmograph Daytona versions are fitted on an Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex. This technical bracelet combines in a singular way the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. At its core lies a superelastic metal blade overmoulded with high-performance black elastomer, a material that is particularly resistant to environ- mental effects and very durable. The Oysterflex bracelet is also fitted with an 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. It is equipped with the ingenious Rolex-patented Easylink rapid extension system that allows the wearer to easily increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, for additional comfort in any circumstance.

Like all Rolex watches, the Cosmograph Daytona is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification redefined by Rolex in 2015. This exclusive designation testifies that the watch has successfully undergone a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its own laboratories according to its own criteria, which exceed watchmaking norms and standards. The certification applies to the fully assembled watch, after casing the movement, guaranteeing super- lative performance on the wrist in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding. The precision of a Rolex Superlative Chronometer after casing is of the order of −2/+2 seconds per day, or more than twice that required of an official chronometer.

The Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that comes with every Rolex watch and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.

pati de st-barth

St Barth French West Indies. A t-shirt that just about everyone owns. Pati, the designer of the Pati de St Barth brand, is part of that special generation of people who arrived in Saint Barthélemy in the 1980s. With no money, but plenty of good ideas… and it was love at first sight.

Her love affair with the island is mutual. In her two beautifully designed shops—one in Gustavia and one in St Jean—her signature clothing collections are at once elegant and relaxed, the symbol of a woman who has evolved in keeping with the island, while maintaining her authenticity.

You have lived in Saint Barthélemy for quite some time…

I arrived in 1983 with a small box of watercolors and a few sheets of drawing paper, after a three-year trip around the world. The first night, I camped at Grand Fond and two policemen woke me up very early in the morning. Camping is not allowed in Saint Barth and they wanted to put me on the first plane out of here. I was finally able to stay by promising them I would get a hotel room. I had just enough to pay for two nights at Tom Beach, and as soon as I got the room I started painting landscapes of the island. I put my watercolors in a few boutiques and two days later they were all sold, so I could stay longer on the island. That’s how it all got started.

Then you started creating t-shirts…

At first I painted them by hand. They were so popular that I couldn’t keep up with the demand. So I modernized and bought a silk-screen printing machine. I taught myself to use it, but it wasn’t easy and it took me a year to master the technique. At the same time, I was creating logos for my clients and one day, in 1989, I designed one for myself. I wanted something simple with a symbol that represented the island. The logo for St Barth French West Indies was born. It was immediately a big success.

How do you explain that success?

I can’t explain it. I understood that this t-shirt would only last if you could only find it in Saint Barthélemy and by making it a unique style with personalized accents. Then all of a sudden, black was all the rage. Since I couldn’t find black t-shirts in Saint Barth or in Saint Martin, I started to dye them myself. I was never able to really make black. I always got a dark gray and never the same gray twice! But that’s exactly what everybody liked. Each series of t-shirts was different. I printed them day and night and clients came at 4am to make sure they got one!

Since you launched that t-shirt, you have really grown…

Over the years, we concentrated on marketing this logo with different styles of lettering. I am also very concerned about the quality of the fabrics. In Saint Barth, we need fabrics that allow the skin to breathe, fabrics that are soft and easy to wear. For the past three years we have also gone in a new direction. We went to Peru to look for beautiful cottons and have since been developing our own collections in addition to t-shirts. The logo is always present on our clothes. We have become a ready-to-wear brand with its own identity. And a lifestyle both elegant and relaxed that corresponds to what I love in Saint Barthélemy.

What are your new projects?

My husband, François, and I always have a lot of ideas. And we are very proactive. In this business, you always have to be a step ahead. We will continue to develop the brand and present new styles. I also would like to have more time to paint and write. I would need a second life to do all I want to do, but for now, this one is pretty full.

The Classic Fusion is the marriage of Berluti’s iconic luxurious Venezia leather and the innovative watch-making expertise of Hublot. This fusion of excellence defines a limited-edition timepiece, giving it a bold, stylish character.

“Style or nothing. After using denim and lace, we wanted to explore different materials for dials and straps. Leather straps are a classic option for watches, but we wanted to go beyond the traditional approach and work with the absolute most iconic leather there is. Our collaboration with Berluti was a natural choice. One of the major difficulties was the dial. It is rather complicated to use a fabric such as leather in a waterproof case. In addition, it was a challenge to perfectly match the subtleties of the strap and the dial,” points out Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO Hublot

Hublot and Berluti are contemporary alchemists. Both of these respected brands wanted to create a timepiece that has a soul and a distinctive personality. To celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Parisian shoe company in 2105, a series of straps and dials was created for the Classic Fusion model. This ingenious combination of the watch and matching shoes is a true symbol of elegance, embodying the spirit of a classic gentleman.

“After dressing the Berluti man from head to toe, our collaboration with Hublot inspired the creation of a watch that is the perfect final touch to the masculine wardrobe. Our two companies share the same level of expertise as well as a passion for excellence,” notes Antoine Arnault, CEO of Berluti

Berluti’s Venezia leather, developed by Olga Berluti, is tanned using an exclusive mineral process. This natural material is what Hublot has adopted for its dials, requiring a complex, delicate process to neutralize the organic elements of the leather, and make each dial unique. This limited edition is available in two models: their straps and dials reflect the outstanding savoir-faire of Berluti. This collaboration between Hublot and Berluti, the creator of the dial and strap, represents a new definition of excellence and a beautiful, recognizable style.

Harry Winston: Premier Moon

Harry Winston introduces the Premier Moon Phase 36mm – an enchanting timepiece that marries the beauty of mother-of-pearl with the sophistication of a moon phase complication. Honoring the Moon Phases The Premier Moon Phase 36mm captures the serene beauty of the celestial sky, with a mesmerizing moon that appears to travel across the horizon, before finding its way behind a white mother-of-pearl design, signifying the end of the lunar cycle. The lunar cycle, hours, minutes and date display are expertly powered by the HW5201 quartz movement, exclusive to Harry Winston. The migration of the moon is visible through a crescent-shaped opening, while the hour and minutes are indicated by elegant, beveled hands. At 6 o’clock, an open circle, adorned with a yellow gold border, reveals the date. Mother-of-Pearl, Contrasting Colors, and Intricate Design Motifs The impressive face of the Premier Moon Phase 36mm uses different artistic techniques and materials to achieve a three-dimensional aesthetic, including carefully selected mother-of-pearl, contrasting colors, and expertly placed design accents. In order to create a unique and graceful dial, two shades of mother-of-pearl were used. The first, a pure white, alludes to daylight, while the second, a pearl blue, recalls the deep blue of the evening sky. The contrasting colors are meant to guide the eye to the heart of the timepiece, where the moon phase is brilliantly displayed. Gold cabochons minute markers, bring the dial to life, while the iconic hallmark for the brand – the emerald-shaped logo – stands watch at 12 o’clock. 18 brilliant-cut diamonds rest at 6 o'clock, while 12 brilliant-cut diamonds line the perimeter, serving as hour markers. Together with those on the bezel, arches and buckle, the timepiece offers 2.58 carats of the world’s most magnificent diamonds, which are perfectly complemented by the 36mm 18K rose gold case and the iridescent accents on the white alligator strap.

Chanel: Do you have a boy friend?

Right from the moment I first saw him, it was obvious.

Handsome, chic, large and not at all pretentious. Discreet, yes discreet but not overly: it’s best it’s known that we’re together!

Perfect with jeans, great with a jacket, and just sublime with an evening outfit.

With him time never passes too quickly or too slowly. Just at the right tempo.

The others are not jealous... Well just a teeny bit.

I don’t have him UNDER my skin but ON it, just on
the surface, which makes me smile all the time. I feel strong and confident. It’s not that I feel more beautiful; I just have the impression that the whole world
is a more beautiful place.

I tell myself it’s simpler to wear something on my wrist to have more confidence in the future.

CHANEL presents the BOY.FRIEND watch, a masculine allure just for women.

De bethune: Kind of Blue

The DB28 adopts a case in polished and blued titanium held by floating lugs for maximum comfort. Their springs indeed follow the shape of the wrist and its movements.

Its mechanical calibre with hand winding is equipped with a high frequency, ultra fast tourbillon, signed De Bethune. The lightest in the world with its minuscule 0.20 grammes for 63 parts, it beats at one-tenth of a second and makes a complete rotation in 30 seconds for superior chronometry. Its silicon balance wheel, just as its escape wheel, is encircled with a white gold ring. Its flat terminal curve, placed on the same level as the balance-spring, compensates for off-centering and facilitates its fastening. A self- regulating twin barrel developed in-house ensures constant torque in the movement. Entirely visible, the movement presents a curved delta motion work bridge in polished and blued titanium decorated with applied microsphere stars in white gold.

Decorated by hand, the parts present various types of high watchmaking finishes, with rose-work grinding on the barrel ratchets and on the back, a plate with “De Bethune” concentric graining. The hours are marked by arrow pointers in pink gold, and as an added touch of luxury, indicated by skeleton hands also fashioned in pink gold.

At once supreme and delicate, the Kind of Blue DB28T emits a singular radiance from the very material from which it is made. It truly advocates in favour of a colour that casts a magical spell.

Louis Moinet: 200 years of chronograph

In honour of the memory of its illustrious founder – and on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its rebirth – Louis Moinet unveils a visionary creation, positioning the chronograph not simply as a complication – but as a central component of the watch.

“It’s probably the most important launch we’ve ever done.” Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO of Louis Moinet, gets straight to the point in presenting Memoris. The timepiece stands at a historic crossroads: the Ateliers’ tenth anniversary, and the bi-centenary of the chronograph invented by Louis Moinet.

The chronograph as the primary function – and time as the complication

The concept began to come into being almost three years ago now, with Louis Moinet starting again from scratch. “We couldn’t draw inspiration from what had gone before; everyone else worked from the premise that the chronograph was an additional complication on top of the time function,” explains Jean-Marie Schaller. “Our starting point was the opposite: sweeping away the past and making the chronograph the heart of our design; the central component to which we then added a time function, rather than the other way round.”

In short, Ateliers Louis Moinet did exactly what the eponymous inventor of the chronograph did in his day; taking a completely different approach to watchmaking rather than attempting merely to improve on an existing model.

As a result, the timepiece lives up to every possible expectation. Each aspect of the chronograph’s action can be admired in its entirety, as soon as the pusher is pressed. The column wheel orchestrates the graceful ballet of the mechanism of steel and gears, passing information to the hands. The chronograph reigns in splendid isolation on the dial, leaving the beholder in no doubt that it is neither a skeleton nor an additional component: the all-new movement has been designed for the chronograph alone, and places it centre stage. Louis Moinet has opted to place the traditional workings of the automatic mechanism on the back of the movement, beneath the plate.

A wholly new approach to the casing

To showcase the chronograph in the style it deserves, Louis Moinet has redeveloped practically every decorative item, with a new case, new hands, a new dial, a new oscillating weight, a new folding clasp, and more.

As a bonus, Louis Moinet has come up with a wholly exclusive use of synthetic gemstones. Usually destined to serve as good pivots and provide proper lubrication of the movement components, gemstones have now found a new purpose elsewhere. Black zircon, in a screwed setting, has been used decoratively – on the case horns.

The final result of all this is Memoris: a 46 mm timepiece, available in pink gold or white gold, in three limited editions of just 60 pieces each. Embodying the essence of true commemoration – all the life of the present, rooted in history – it links Louis Moinet’s heritage with the creative vision of the Ateliers that today honour his memory.

Yume: Welcome to the universe of tina

The universe that Tina has created is made of simple, pure lines, sometime structured… But her choices are always harmonious and timeless.

In Japanese, “Yume” means dream. In her boutique, Tina invites us to live a slightly unreal experience… in 70 square meters this mistress of fine design has assembled a wide range of ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, and home decor. From local artisans to international designers, the space is filled with the finest natural fabrics: linen voile, hand-knotted fringe, cashmere, and silk... Because “elegance is also the naturalness of fabric so light you almost forget you are wearing it” explains Tina.

More than just a boutique, YUME Is also a lifestyle that Tina promotes in her beautifully designed universe, where handmade and artisanal fabrication are put on a pedestal… And her clientele, which comes from all over the world, adores the ambiance as much as the wonderful pieces on display. In creating her lovely shop, Tina opted for an extremely natural style featuring teak and bamboo on the exterior… as if an invitation to travel.

Always seeking out new designers, Tina has started to carry “Louve,” an independent line of jewelry from Montreal and a collection of pieces handmade by its designer Virginie Turcot-Lamarre, as well as work by Monique Ste-Marie, a textile designer who puts traditional techniques to the service of an aesthetic vision that is decidedly modern.

Stop in to YUME as soon as you can to recharge your imagination, and share Tina’s dream…

Pop Saint Barth: gipsy-chic vibes

Marjorie Lions, founder of the Pop Saint Barth brand, designs and creates her gypsy-chic collections that lend themselves perfectly to island vacations. Close to 80 different styles are available in her Gustavia boutique, and are popular with women seeking a unique look.

Marjorie, who are you?

“I am passionate about fashion, design, and fabrics. I had several multi-brand ready-to-wear boutiques in Marseilles, and totally by chance, at the airport in Paris, I ran into my old friend Virginie, founder of the Donale brand. She told me about her life in Saint Barth, and I was enchanted by her story. My family and I came to the island on vacation and decided to move here. Just like that! We put our life in France on hold, and it’s now been 13 years that we have been here. The island is inspiring. The people are beautiful, calm, and relaxed, the landscapes incredible! You want to wear clothes that are fluid, airy, and colorful.”

Tell us about your designs.

“I have always designed clothes. Even when I was young, I was making dresses. And once on the island, I started designing for my friends and myself, as I did not see myself in the things available in the boutiques. Then my friend Marco, who had a boutique at Tamarin, asked me to sell my designs there. They met with immediate success! I opened my own boutique in Gustavia in 2011. I wanted to make clothes that were adapted for the beach but that could also be worn at night, with outfits that could work in different places, under different circumstances, and in several styles. That a simple beach dress could become an evening dress with pretty accessories and a pair of heels. So I designed styles that are both chic and bohemian, using light fabrics that move gracefully with the body. I like my clients to feel pretty and sexy in just a simple dress and bare feet. I want my dresses to look “alive” against tanned skin. I use fabrics such as silk, cotton, cotton voile, and crochet. As far as colors, I lean towards prints with shades of blue and pink, but white, beige, and black have their place in my collections. I like low necks and ruffles, that’s how I am, I like to make women feel beautiful.”

What makes you different from the other designers on the island?

“I am inspired by fashion magazines and current trends, but I am especially inspired by fabrics. That is truly where I find my inspiration. And my reaction is immediate. In Italy, I discovered some vintage crochet, a trend from the 70s. I liked this "Coachella" look, and I created some new styles using crochet. I am also very fond of animal prints, such as butterflies, that my clients adore. Everything is hand-made, and I also sell outside of my boutique (Hotel Cheval Blanc in Saint Barth, Viceroy in Anguilla, Kylee in The Hamptons, Elodie K in Los Angeles…).”

Sea memory : cabinet of curiosities

Sea Memory resembles a luxurious flea market. There are as many objects as there are things to please every possible taste. Edouard Lacour and his parents run this cabinet of curiosities, the only boutique of its kind in Saint Barth.

How do you describe your boutique?

“When my parents were in Martinique, they ran a boutique with souvenirs, local crafts, and beachwear. In the late 80s, they fell in love with Saint Barth and decided 10 years later to open a furniture shop that quickly appealed to the island’s clientele. As for me, I was the manager of a luxury leather goods store for four years. Then I decided to work with my parents. Sea Memory opened in 1997. At first, the idea was to sell only objects inspired by the sea (model sailboats, naval-style furniture…). But my father was always interested in furniture and antiques so we developed a line of furniture and accessories for the home. The only thing we were sure of at the beginning was that we wanted to work only with luxury materials.”

Tell us about your style. How do you describe the Sea Memory furniture?

“Our boutique has our original designs, but there are also many objects by Italian, Belgian, French, and Asian artisans. These objects are very cosmopolitan as we cater to a clientele that travels a lot and they do not want to see the same things anyplace else. So we need to be unique and high quality. Of course you will also find the furniture created by my father. He is greatly inspired by Art Déco, while I prefer cleaner, more modern lines, which we infuse with such luxury materials as stingray skin, mother-of-pearl, parchment, bone, or horn. These materials give each object its own identity and unique style. They become objects of curiosity. We also make a lot of custom orders based on a specific size, material, or color. Today, for certain products, we offer as many as twelve colors. Our clients are given preferential treatment, as they expect a unique item.”

Another thing that is unique is the use of stingray skin in your designs. Tell us about that.

“The stingray skin (Dasyatis Sephen) comes from Indonesia and is like leather. The French name for it is “galuchat,” which comes from the name of a cabinetmaker for Louis XV in the 18th century, who was the first to use this exceptional material in France. When this skin is tanned, it becomes very resistant and is perfect as a veneer for wood. Along with parchment (goatskin), these are materials that have existed for a long time but are still rather unexploited. They require a special knowledge and they are expensive. But the result is magnificent. Many of our designs are made with stingray skin, and our clients can express their personal preference. From small boxes or cuff links to a large desk, we tailor our work to meet all of our clients’ needs. We also develop leather goods and jewelry with this skin, and like to work with it. Today, we would really like to maintain a spirit of curiosity in the boutique with both unusual accessories and more everyday objects. Their commonality is their originality. But in order to have more things, we’d have to expand the walls of boutique! Something to think about!”

Faby jaca: fashion designer

The story of two sisters is one of the true success stories in Saint Barth. Those sisters are Faby and Nanou, who decided to create their own brand of clothing. They started with next to nothing, except the spark of creativity and the determination of those who believe in their lucky star and their talent. Today, ten years after the launch of its signature kimono, Lolita Jaca is a major label on the fashion scene in Saint Barth. ACCESS chats with Faby Jaca, the stylist/designer for the brand.

Please tell us about the launch of Lolita Jaca.

« We started out humbly. Before becoming a designer, I had a small boutique that carried multiple brands. I often adapted the styles we carried. I cut, resized, and redesigned based on my inspiration and what my clients requested. In fact, I didn’t know it yet, but I was learning my future profession. And then, one day, ten years ago, I took the plunge on the advice of my sister Nanou. I created my first design, a kimono, working with a seamstress here in Saint Barth. The fabric was burlap, and not very comfortable, but it was the best I could find. We put it in the window, and fifteen minutes later, it was sold. My new life as a designer had just started! »

What are your sources of inspiration?

« There are many, even if there is a sense of continuity in the Lolita Jaca style. My references are the 1920s-30s and 60s-70s. The 20s were the beginning of creativity and freedom in design. They were the Roaring Twenties with lots of fun, but also a lot of class and ultra feminine styles that are perpetually updated. The 60s saw Swinging London and the advent of short skirts that fit so nicely with the lifestyle in Saint Barth. I like 70s decade for its bohemian spirit, its arty side, and the beginning of a trend of traveling to India. »

Can you describe the Lolita Jaca style in just a few words?

« That’s hard, as I don’t like to be labeled. I am not limited to a single style. Compartmentalized, no thanks! On one side, there is the  “Belle de Jour” style, almost proper, with dresses in white lace with clean lines. Then on the other side—and one goes well with the other— the bohemian look with its Slavic and Indian influences, from long dresses to silk tops. Today, the trademark of Lolita Jaca is quality and exclusivity, with the creation of limited series and extraordinary one-of-a-kind pieces. We also do permanent research on how to improve the quality of the fabrics. »

Lolita Jaca and Saint Barth, it’s a beautiful story…

« I love Saint Barth. I need to travel in order to create. I need Saint Barth to recharge my energy. Here, I am inspired by nature, the colors of the sand, the minerals, the flowers, and of course, by the sea. The Dubai blue, one of the pieces from my last collection, is inspired by the blue of the sea in the bay of Saint Jean. »

Tell us about your new collection?

« First, there are the classics, the fabrics I have used since the beginning—silk, cotton, and crochet.  I reinvent them every year. And then there are the colors, warm and cool tones, such as a magnificent beige print inspired by art deco to wear in Saint Barth or elsewhere. This year, I spent two marvelous months Ibiza. While there, I had a desire to design longer cuts, dresses that are both bohemian and sumptuously chic. That’s the signature of the Lolita Jaca woman, elegant and sophisticated, while at the same time simple, flowing, and relaxed. »

travel inspired jewelry

Nathalie Gumbs’ jewelry store is as pretty as a pearl, just like its owner. Open since 2011 in Gustavia, NG Création represents the fruits of Nathalie’s travels, as well as her pieces she has simply fallen in love with. She presents the work of confirmed designers as well as her own personal creations. Her signature design: the heart of Saint Barth.

How did you get involved with jewelry? What do you like about this art form?

“I was always attracted by jewelry. But what I really wanted to do was travel. So I said why not do both at the same time? I went to the South of France to learn about working in boutiques then I enrolled in a school in New York (Jewelry Institute of America). I discovered Italy in Florence. I learned about my future profession by learning about the world of jewelry, but also by learning languages and immersing myself in different cultures. And I have never lost that love for travel. Even now I need to spend several weeks away from Saint Barth, to escape, to get motivated again. I really get fidgety! Even though I love the island where I was born, and it inspires me, traveling allows me to expand my design ideas as well as the pieces I select, and sometime I find perfect little nuggets. In Argentina, I discovered rhodochrosite (a lovely rosy-pink stone). When I got back, I used it to design a ring and earrings.”

Clearly, you follow your instinct.

“Exactly! When I created my first piece of jewelry: the heart of Saint Barth, a white-gold pendant with a diamond, I wanted to pay homage to the “Cœur d’amour” by painter Henri Matisse as well as the shape of my island. I put my first pieces of jewelry in various boutiques (primarily at the Eden Rock hotel) and I started to build a clientele over the course of a couple of years. Then it was time to open my own boutique. I create pieces that you don’t see anyplace else, like the 3D pendant of a hummingbird. It is almost as realistic as the little bird itself. And once again I stayed close to nature, close to my origins.”

What sort of jewelry do you have in your shop?

“I have developed a taste for mini-jewelry. Small pieces you wear like tattoos that melt into the skin—very discrete and very feminine. I also like pieces that are representative and have a symbol, such as a Buddha, a word, or an animal… For me, a piece of jewelry is like a piece of one’s self, so it should make sense. And the mini-jewelry also has a delicate side to it. I really go with things that appeal to me and the niche designers I show in my boutique are really creators that I am fond of. They also help keep me abreast of current trends. I have confidence in them and find that my clients like them as well. I like it when they say, “hey, we haven’t seen this piece anyplace else.” Here in Saint Barth, some clients don’t have any budget restrictions so I can please myself in making selections for them. They like exclusivity, as I do!”
