Every season, Ruinart reminds us that heritage is only as good as its ability to reinvent itself. For its latest artistic collaboration, the doyenne of champagne houses has chosen to team up with Marie Berthouloux, founder of Studio Ekceli, to create a work in which matter, light and emotion are gracefully intertwined.
When gesture becomes message
Trained in the applied arts and passionate about materials, Marie Berthouloux has been exploring the alchemy between design and craftsmanship for years. Through this collaboration, she revisits the symbolic elements of the Maison Ruinart – glass, chalk, paper – to give them a second life, halfway between sculpture, calligraphy of light and living art.
In his studio, Studio Ekceli, every detail is meaningful. Reims chalk, the natural substrate of Ruinart’s chalk pits, becomes a medium for creation; glass is illuminated like a resonance with the original bottle; paper is folded, crumpled and sculpted to tell the House’s story in a different way. Each work becomes a narrative object, where light and shadow compose a sensitive language.
A natural resonance with Ruinart’s DNA
This choice of collaboration is not insignificant. Studio Ekceli and Ruinart share a common vision: that of contemporary luxury that is sober, respectful and committed. A luxury of the essential, where elegance is not based on ostentation but on the precision of the gesture, the nobility of the material and the depth of the message.
Like Ruinart, Marie Berthouloux believes in the power of symbols, in the memory of materials, in enduring beauty. Together, they sign a declaration of intent: excellence can (and must) be synonymous with artistic and environmental responsibility.
A video to enter the creative process
Ruinart unveils the behind-the-scenes aspects of this collaboration in an immersive video, a veritable ode to the creative process. We discover the artist’s meticulous gestures, light captured in its purest form, textures revealed like an emotional cartography.
More than a film: a visual manifesto, on the borderline between craftsmanship, design and poetry.
True to the Ruinart spirit
For several years now, Ruinart has been a pioneer in the dialogue between art and champagne. This partnership with Marie Berthouloux reinforces this desire to transcend our heritage through contemporary eyes, by spotlighting artists who share the House’s values.
With this new collaboration, Ruinart continues to innovate without ever betraying its essence.
It proves that beyond prestige, it is the intelligence of transmission and the beauty of gesture that make a House noble.
