The Art of Self Care, a Method Developed by Diana Bourel

For more than thirty years, Diana Bourel has explored the connections between the body, mind, and emotions. Through The Art of Self Care, she brings together yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, somatic practices, and personal development in a holistic approach offered in St. Barts and internationally.

An Approach Developed Over Several Decades

Diana Bourel’s journey has never been limited to a single discipline. Her interest in human consciousness and contemplative practices led her to study several styles of yoga, meditation, kinesiology, somatic work, and different forms of transpersonal development.

She has also trained in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and neuroscience-based techniques related to nervous-system regulation.

These years of learning have allowed her to develop a method that can adapt to very different needs. Instead of applying the same program to everyone, Diana selects the most relevant practices according to each person’s background, goals, and individual pace.

Much More Than a Yoga Class

Yoga remains one of the foundations of The Art of Self Care, but it is only the beginning of a much broader process. Sessions may incorporate guided meditation, breathing exercises, mindfulness, intuitive movement, or somatic practices.

Depending on individual needs, Diana offers Hatha Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Kriya Yoga, Zen Yoga, and restorative practices. Aqua Yoga provides another way to explore movement in the water while embracing St. Barts’ natural connection to the ocean.

The intention extends beyond improving posture or physical ability. The practice also encourages greater awareness, a clearer understanding of personal reactions, and the development of useful tools for everyday life.

Fully Personalized Sessions

Programs can be arranged for individuals, couples, or groups. Every session is designed around the participant’s experience level, current energy, and personal intentions.

Someone may be searching for a more mindful physical practice, better stress management, an opportunity to recenter, or a space for personal reflection. The guidance then evolves gradually, without emphasizing performance or imposing an external pace.

Sessions are available in St. Barts, at private locations, or at Studio Selva at Manapany Hotel & Spa. Diana also works in other destinations and offers remote follow-up sessions, allowing participants to maintain continuity while traveling.

Nature as a Place of Practice

In St. Barts, the experience can move beyond the yoga mat and into the island’s trails, ocean, and natural landscapes. Mindful hikes combine movement, breathing, and observation, while certain sessions take place in the water or directly beside the sea.

Sound baths and restorative practices create other experiences centered on listening, relaxation, and presence.

This relationship with the elements is an essential part of the method. Nature is more than a backdrop—it becomes a resource for slowing down, shifting attention, and reconnecting with one’s inner experience.

Expertise Shared Through International Retreats

Over the years, Diana Bourel has developed programs throughout Europe, the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Asia. These experiences include retreats, workshops, wellness journeys, and programs created for private clients or corporate groups.

Her signature event is the St Barth Summer Camp Yoga Challenge, now in its eighteenth edition. Held at Manapany, this immersive program combines several daily practices involving yoga, meditation, mindful hiking, sound healing, and personal development.

Participants may join for a single day, several days, or an extended period. This flexible format reflects the philosophy of The Art of Self Care: sharing practical tools that can continue supporting participants long after the experience ends.

Self-Care as a Sustainable Practice

After more than thirty years of teaching and exploration, Diana Bourel approaches self-care as a genuine learning process. It is not simply about taking a break, but about gaining a deeper understanding of oneself and developing habits suited to one’s own life.

The Art of Self Care therefore offers a deeply personal vision of holistic wellness—an evolving practice shaped by experience, meaningful guidance, and the meeting of ancient traditions with contemporary knowledge.
